Ever think these two would join forces? Coldplay and Rihanna have teamed up for a new song “Princess of China.” The video for the song has just been posted and it is amazing! Chris Martin told MTV, “Her bit on our record is my favorite bit. When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music.” The song is the fourth single from Coldplay‘s album Mylo Xyloto. The album is in stores now so go pick it up.
Check out Madonna on the cover of Vanity Fair Italia. To promote her new album “M.D.M.A.” and new fragrance “Truth or Dare”, the singer/superstar looks killer on the cover. The cover was shot during the promo video shoot for her fragrance and it shown in black and white. This is Madonna’s second cover of Vanity Fair Italia this year!! Crazy. She kicked off the year with their January issue in the vintage shot below that was shot by Herb Ritts back in 1987. It was a promo of the Who’s That Girl Tour. Besides the hair, who could tell how many years have passed between the two? She is really defying the age of time with these looks of hers. Jealous!
The Smashing pumpkin seventh album will be released June 19th. The Album is called Oceania. Billy Corgan said last year that this album is more like “an album within an album” in regards to the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project. Rolling Stone reports that it is their first new work with new drummer Mike Byrne, new guitarist Jeff Schroeder, and new bassist Nicole Fiorentino. Wonder how the new tunes will all sound. A bunch of the songs have been performed before on their last tour but a few I still haven’t heard. The entire album catalog is said to be remastered and reissued with bonus tracks, starting with Gish and Siamese Dream in November 2011. The Pre-Gish Demos, Pisces Iscariot, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, The Aeroplane Flies High, and Adore will be released in 2012, and finally, Machina/The Machines of God and the yet commercially unreleased Machina II/Friends and Enemies of Modern Music are expected to be combined, remixed and released in 2013. Can’t wait to pick this one up.

The awesome band known as Vampire Weekend has laid pretty low for the last year but that doesn’t mean we won’t be blessed with hearing any new tunes this year. (I hope) Frontman, Ezra Koenig told Rolling Stone Magazine, “We do have a ton of stuff,” said Koenig. “It would be cool if it was released this year. I always want to release music as soon as possible, but more and more I’m realizing it’s something you almost have no control over. We just never want to be in a position where when we put out something, we feel could have benefited from more time.” He has a point. Although I am dying to hear new tunes, it is better not to rush it so they can create masterpieces like they did with 2010′s Contra. Bassist Chris Baio also told the magazine that they’ve started many songs and that they can’t wait to get them out to the public. I am so stoked to hear their new stuff. I am sure the LP is going to be sick.
Jack White’s first solo album has gotten outstanding reviews so far. The album titled “Blunderbuss” is Whites first solo album after his split from The White Stripes back in early 2011. The album will be officially released on April 24th through White’s own label Third Man Records. It is in association with XL Recordings and Columbia Records. The album was written, recorded and produced entirely by White in 2011. The first single from the album, “Love Interruption” was released on January 30 through White’s website and Third Man Records website.
White has stated “I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.”
Since the entire album leaked last week (April 15th), the next day White’s team decided to stream it all on iTunes for free listening, 8 days before it’s release. The album is honestly amazing and there is still a familiar way about each song. Dark and strange with deep melodies that only a truly skilled and gifted person could come up with and he is.. truly gifted.
Wow, I have been waiting for this news for way too long. Alanis Morissette has finally revealed she will be releasing a new album. The album has not yet been named but will be released this year! Songs include “Spiral,” “Guardian,” “Celebrity,” and “Havoc.” “Havoc” is said to be a ballad, while “Celebrity” is described to be “a scathing takedown of America’s obsession with fame.” Can’t wait to hear her new stuff!!
Red Hot Chili Peppers will be releasing a new album of covered songs. The album titled “We Salute You” will have only six songs on it but I am sure their all amazingly good. “We Salute You” will be out May 1st and includes songs from The Ramones, The Beach Boys and more. Check out the tour dates here.
Billboard states that the release of this new album is meant to toast the Chili Peppers’ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame brethren, after the group was inducted into the Rock Hall last Saturday. Seems like this will be a great year for them!
