The September Issue: Top 5 Covers

Although we’ve been waiting patiently for our September issues to hit the stands, we’ve been pretty much semi-satisfied with all of the leaked covers that have been emerging on the internet. (of course the one I am most excited to see, Vogue US, has kept theirs top-secret but these will suffice) Here are my top 5 leaked September covers. Which one is your fav?

Keira Knightly for Harper’s Bazaar UKI just love this! Simply gorgeous and one of my favorites actresses.

Victoria Beckham for Glamour UK She is perfection. So fun and flirty.

Alexi Lubomirski for Vogue Germany Very mod! Love the color combo.

Karlie Kloss for Vogue JapanGreat color palette although I do feel like she blends too much into the page.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for Elle UKGreat outfit, just wish the coloring was as bold.

Vogue Germany’s Health Initiative ain’t too Healthy.

As I told you guys earlier, all of Vogue’s 19 international magazines will start having new standards starting in June when it comes to their models featured in their magazines. Models have to be above 16 years old that look healthy, meaning if someone looks like they might be hiding an eating disorder, they cannot be in their magazine.  For all 19 June issues they all decided to dedicate their issue to promoting health.

For Germany’s issue shot by the amazing photographer, Peter Lindbergh, they decided to go for natural faces without make-up ( the title is called “The Naked Truth”) which of course I think is a great spread but one picture has me a bit at odds.  For me,  I figured a healthy issue wasn’t just to promote the new rule of no stick figures or 14 year old models but to promote an overall sense of a healthy magazine.  Cigarette smoking is not my idea of “healthy.”  In the spread is actress Nina Hoss smoking a cigarette.  It’s not that I really care what people do on their own time (like smoke even though I think it’s nasty) but to put it in a healthy editorial just seems a bit ironic. Am i wrong?
